Ambien 10mg to Ambien CR 12.5mg? - BabyCenter
I asked for a refill today and my Drs office called in 12.5 mg Ambien CR. The regular Ambien worked fine & knocked me out for a good 7-8 hrs.
Married to Steve 11~12~2010 Mommy to Emily 9*7*2011.
have you tried something over the counter? give the benedryl a shot maybe - before going for the strong stuff.
I understand - ambien is an approved pregnancy drug - but its sooooo strong.
As far the dependency issues go - I took Ambien with my first, and I had no problem with stopping taking Ambien. Want to know why? Because when you have a newborn, you don't need any drugs to help you sleep. I stopped using it, and never even thought twice about it.
I was on ambien for 4 yrs pre pregnancy and stopped cold turkey when I found out I was expecting - it was harrrrrrrd!!!!
I'd be careful because you can become dependant on that! I have 10mg Ambien too, but my doctor said not to take it every night because it can cause dependent issues... I'd ask for the regular Ambien and just express your concerns about the upped dose.
I take Ambien 10 mg. I can't take Benadryl or anything like it because I have RLS - and Benadryl actually makes it much worse.
also - I was given the 5mg but would cut it in half so I was only taking 2.5mg it knocked me on my ass - and im no light weight by any means.

I say call your doctor back and l her you don't need the Ambien CR - the 10 mg was working fine. I'd also point out your co-pay would be too high with the Ambien CR, since there's no generic. I think most doctors would get that.
good luck!! happy dreams!!!
have you possibly considered benedryl?
