Q I am a healthy 60-year-old man. I would like to know more about the side-effects of Epilim - in particular, does it have any effect on sexual functioning?.

Around 4 per cent of all pregnant women in the first trimester take an antidepressant – and now researchers have discovered the drug causes miscarriag.

Q I am a healthy 60-year-old man. Some years ago, I had a bout of epileptic seizures when under a lot of stress. I was put on the drug Epilim. I don’t think I am likely to have any more seizures but, whenever I ask my GP about stopping Epilim, he says that if there are no side-effects, it’s better to keep taking the tablets.

Antidepressants – and especially the SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) – are a major cause of falls in the elderly, say researchers.

Excessive weight gain on Epilim- need advice in regards to the two

I am 29 years old and female and when I started on the Epilim I weighed 55 kilo's . I have suffered the weight gain side effect whilst on epilim and I've suffered.

Good luck in your decision! Hi there.

I was on Epilim for years, in which time I did steadily gained weight, mainly because the drug made me drowsy and hungry. I changed over to Lamictal in 1999 for reasons that it was a newer drug with less side effects and safer if I ever wanted kids.

Now I am on Keppra and Ergenyl Retard (I think it has a different name in the states) and I still feel half-starved so far no weight change despite a poor diet. Kudos to you though being able to control yourself, I am having such a hard time with this side-effect I had a big appetite to start so I was hoping for something to repress mine to a normal level lol.
