Use VESIcare with caution in the ELDERLY; they may be more sensitive to its All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side.
Store VESIcare at room temperature, between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep VESIcare out of the reach of children and away from pets.

Multiple dose studies of VESIcare in elderly volunteers (65 to 80 years) showed .. Expected side effects of antimuscarinic agents are dry mouth, constipation.
Solifenacin had no significant effect on the pharmacokinetics of digoxin (0.125 mg/day) in healthy subjects.
In placebo controlled clinical studies, similar safety and effectiveness were observed between older (623 patients ≥ 65 years and 189 patients ≥ 75 years) and younger patients (1188 patients < 65 years) treated with VESIcare (See CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY, Pharmacokinetics in Special Populations ).

Incontinence drugs and confusion - MDJunction
The side effects for me were truly awful. 'Vesicare' did not give me such a dry mouth, but the tiredness and confusion were much worse. I would not allow any elderly person for whom I have any responsibility to be put on.

Sorry to get on my 'soap box' but I do feel strongly that too many of us are given treatments which really do us more harm than is acceptable, and I do worry about our old folks in nursing homes who may be 'out of it' simply because it is more 'convenient' to give them pills to stop incontinence. I've had other incidences, but all of these things I attributed to possible increased dementia due to being brain injured and the fact that my father had early-onset Alzhiemer's (later confirmed by autopsy to be "lewy body dementia".
This is a frightening thought, and one that I had not considered for myself.
