Incontinence drugs and confusion - MDJunction

The side effects for me were truly awful. 'Vesicare' did not give me such a dry mouth, but the tiredness and confusion were much worse. I would not allow any elderly person for whom I have any responsibility to be put on.

Sorry to get on my 'soap box' but I do feel strongly that too many of us are given treatments which really do us more harm than is acceptable, and I do worry about our old folks in nursing homes who may be 'out of it' simply because it is more 'convenient' to give them pills to stop incontinence. Hugs to everyone, Gordon.

I've had other incidences, but all of these things I attributed to possible increased dementia due to being brain injured and the fact that my father had early-onset Alzhiemer's (later confirmed by autopsy to be "lewy body dementia".

This is a frightening thought, and one that I had not considered for myself.
