Xanax (Alprazolam) Questions and Drug Interactions.
Can I take Xanax (alprazolam), a benzodiazepine used to treat anxiety and panic disorder, with:
All these can cause drowsiness. Concurrent use of Adderall and Effexor can result in increased risk of serotonin syndrome -- signs and symptoms range from restlessness and rapid heartbeat to muscle rigidity and seizures. If not treated quickly, it can be life-threatening. Concurrent use of Vicodin (hydrocodone with acetaminophen -- an opioid analgesic) and Xanax can result in additive respiratory depression, which can result in hypoventilation and neurologic injury.
Yes. Take ibuprofen with food or milk to avoid stomach upset. Melatonin?
I am taking 50mg metoprolol succinate ER and 1mg Xanax ER. Are these safe together? Will it affect my appetite? There are no direct drug interactions between metoprolol succinate ER (Toprol XL) and Xanax ER (alprazolam). The Xanax has been found to affect the appetite of 1.5 percent to 3 percent of those who were taking this product during trials. If you have any issues with appetite, please speak to your physician. I take Xanax and Zoloft and have a cough. Is it safe to take Delsym? The Delsym (dextromethorphan or DM) is fine with the Xanax (alprazolam). There may be some additional drowsiness though. The Zoloft (sertraline) may interact with the Delsym. Although an interaction is possible, these drugs are often used together for brief periods of time. Can I take alprazolam, citalopram and cyclobenzaprine at the same time? The cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) can interact with each of the other medications. If you notice slurred speech, confusion, severe weakness, or difficulty breathing, contact your health care provider immediay. Do not take the cyclobenzaprine with the citalopram (Celexa) without approval from your prescriber. Discuss possible alternative treatment options with your health care provider. Taking these drugs together can increase the risk of a dangerous change in heartbeat or heart rhythm, or may increase the risk of "serotonin syndrome." Discuss any new or worsening side effects, such as confusion, constipation, dizziness, difficulty with urination, dry mouth and eyes, changes in vision, fast heartbeat or palpitations with your health care provider. Is it OK to take cephalexin 500mg while on Prozac? I also take Ambien and or Xanax as needed. There are no interactions with the cephalexin (Keflex) and any of the others. Be sure to take this antibiotic until finished. The Prozac (fluoxetine) can interact with both the Ambien (zolpidem) and Xanax (alprazolam). Drugs for anxiety or nerves and drugs for sleep are sometimes used together with caution, but some medications can be similar or duplicate treatments. You should not take the Ambien and Xanax at the same time without speaking to your doctor first. What happens if a person takes hydrocodone 10mg and Xanax every four to six hours every day, all day? Both hydrocodone and Xanax (alprazolam) cause drowsiness. These should only be taken when needed. The hydrocodone only is available mixed with acetaminophen. The daily limit of acetaminophen is 3000mg. The hydrocodone can irritate the stomach and cause constipation, especially when taken in higher, more frequent doses. Can you take Xanax and Azor and hydrochlorothiazide together? There are no direct drug interaction between Xanax (alprazolam) and either the Azor (amlodipine + olmesartan) or HCTZ (hydrochlorothiazide). The Azor and HCTZ can both be used to lower blood pressure. The HCTZ is a diuretic. Taken together you may notice orthostatic hypotension, when blood pressure drops too low. Contact your prescriber if you have dizziness which does not go away. I'm allergic to ibuprofen. Can I take Xanax? There is no ibuprofen in any Xanax product. There are no direct drug interactions or cross allergic reactions between Xanax and ibuprofen (Motrin) or any other NSAID. Xanax should be taken only as needed and can cause drowsiness. Be careful if you have to be alert when taking Xanax.
CAUTION: Xanax can cause drowsiness. Be careful if you must be alert. Make sure all your health care providers have a complete list of your medications, including over-the-counter medications, herbals and vitamins.
